Future Rooms installed this 8m x 4m Premier Studio garden room for St Mary’s C of E Primary School in Woodham Ferrers, Chelmsford, Essex.
The school needed a separate calm space on site, without the disruption of a larger building project. The room was installed onto an existing concrete base and finished with Thermowood cladding to all external walls.
At 3m high, the building gives a more open feel inside, while still keeping the clean Studio shape used across the Future Rooms range.
The room was designed for regular school use, with a simple, durable internal finish.
Inside, the building included fire-rated plasterboard, a skimmed and painted finish, white skirting and Oake & Gray Light Ash vinyl flooring. The specification also included internal downlights, four twin recessed sockets, two touchscreen wall heaters, a consumer unit and emergency lighting with certification.
The SIP construction included 150mm insulation to the walls and 200mm insulation to the roof and floor, making the room suitable for use throughout the school year.
The front elevation included an aluminium single door with side screen, low level threshold and anti-finger traps. Three full-height grey UPVC glazed panels with half openers were also fitted, giving the room good natural light and ventilation.
Externally, the room included a decked step, EPDM rubber roof, gutter and downpipe, plus up/downlights wired to Part P regulations. Fire alarm wiring, a smoke and sounder base, and a break glass unit were also included.
