A larger garden room for everyday use

We installed this 5.5m x 4m Premier Diplomat garden room for a customer in Chester, Cheshire.

The room was designed to provide extra living space away from the main house. The larger size gives the customer a practical garden room for everyday use, with enough space for seating, hobbies, work or general family use.

The photos were taken after three days on site, with finishing and decorating still to be completed.

Composite cladding, sliding doors and side glazing

The front and side walls were finished in Teak flat composite cladding, fitted vertically.

The rear wall was finished with metal box profile and A1 fire-rated boards in Albatross 18B17. This was specified for the rear elevation, while the main visible elevations kept the Teak cladding chosen by the customer.

The front elevation included grey UPVC sliding patio doors, white internally, measuring 2800mm x 2000mm. These were offset to the left-hand side and open from right to left.

A 600mm x 2000mm full-height glazed panel with a half opener was also fitted to the left-hand side. The room also included a steel corner post, external downlights to the overhang and a decked step with louvres.

Internal finish and electrics

The room was built using SIP construction with 100mm insulation to the walls, floor and roof.

Inside, the specification included plasterboard and skim finish, Timeless Oak vinyl plank flooring, white skirting, internal downlights, four twin sockets and a consumer unit.

The lights and sockets were wired to Part P regulations. Once the final finishing and decorating are complete, the room will be ready to use as extra living space.
